A 5-day tour
looks like this:
The first day we will pick you up in the morning from your accommodation in Kiruna and go to the point where
we will start our trip. Where we start the tour will depend
on snowconditions, often Abisko or Nikkaluokta or from our
kennel 20 min west
from Kiruna. We will provide you with winteroveralls, boots,
hat, mittens, sleepingbag and goggles. So you don´t need to
bring any heavy winterclothes, just extra underwear, socks,
sweater, maybe a pair of lighter boots to wear in the hut in
the evening (you can read FAQ at the website).
Before we start we will introduce you to our dogs and the
team each of you will drive, and give you a short lesson in
how to manage the sled and give commands.
We travel along the Kingstrail (Kungsleden in Swedish) which
leads us into the highest mountain area that Sweden has to
offer. We might see wild animals as reindeers, elks,
ptarmigans and eagles. We will stop for an outdoor lunch
(lunch on the trail: hot soup with sandwiches) and in the
evening we'll reach the first hut we'll stay in. These
wilderness huts are often without electricity and running
water but sometimes with a firewood heated sauna. All huts
have self-catering, we help each other to bring water from
the stream, chop the wood and we
often share kitchen with other guests.
We will take care of the dogs together, have dinner (mostly
traditional Swedish dishes as reindeer stew, meatballs) and
after a day full of new impressions have a good nights sleep
in our sleeping bags.
The second day, after breakfast (yoghurt, mussli, juice,
bread, ham, cheese, coffee, tea), we will go on travelling
along the trail, and stop for an outdoorlunch. We try to
reach a new hut every day, but can also make daytrips into
great mountain valleys and go back to sleep in the same hut
one more night.
On day five, we have our last day on the trail. After
finishing the tour we will take you back to your accommodation in Kiruna in the
afternoon.
We don't need a deposit, you pay the amount in
cash when we meet.
