How to get here?
Did you know that Kiruna is the most northerst city in Sweden?
It is 1253 km north of Stockholm and 130 km above artic circle.
If you are travelling from Stockholm, it takes about 18 hours by
train, 20 hours by bus, or two hours by plane.
Just check with your travelagency for time schedule and prices.
When to go?
From 1st of March to the
end of
April, we are running our tours in Abisko/Kebnekaise
mountain area which is the highest alpine area that Sweden has
to offer.
During this time, our spring, the weather can get up to +10ºC to
+15ºC at daytime, but is often very cold at night, down below
-30ºC.
The beauty of coming in spring is that the days are longer and you
can easily get a sun tan, as the Sun reflects in the snow. This
is the time when we locals love to spend our time outdoors. This
is also the ideal time for choosing our longer tours.
How to find a accommodation?
Kiruna has lots of different types of accommodation, such as
hotels, bed and breakfast, camping and youth hostels. Of course
we will help you to find accommodation for your arrival day and
the day before your departure. Just let us know when you are
booking with us.
How many participants will there be on the tour?
Minimum two, maximum five persons.
There is no problem to go as a single. If you contact us we will
help you to find an already booked tour that you can join!
What is included in the tour?
Board and lodging, winter clothes, sleeping bag, your “own” dog
team and transport from accommodation in Kiruna.
Where do we sleep during the tour?
We overnight in huts, often without electricity and running
water but sometimes with a firewood heated sauna.

What do
we eat during the tour?
Breakfast: yoghurt, mussli, juice, bread, ham, cheese,
coffee, tea. Lunch on the trail: hot soup with
sandwiches. Dinner: Mostly traditional Swedish dishes as
reindeer stew, meatballs, and so on. If you wish to have
vegetarian food this will need to be booked before the
trip.
What do I need to bring?
When travelling with a dog team you try to travel as
light as possible. Remember that the dogs have to pull
you an all your luggage.
Bring extra underwear, socks, perhaps a pair of lighter
shoes to wear in the evening, towel, camera with extra
batteries and - very important -
and
sunglasses!
How far do we travel each day?
That depends on the weather and snow conditions, but
normally 20-40 km/day.
Will I see northern light?
If the weather is clear, there are possibilities to
enjoy the sparkling northern light.
Is it possible to see wild animals?
There are a lot of wild animals in the area. Elks and
reindeers are the most common for us to see when we
travel in silence with our dogs.
Do I need to be exeptionally fit to be on a tour driving my own
dog team?
No, you don't. Just normal fitness.
Before the tour you will get instructions how to handle
the sled so you don't need former experience from dog
sledding. The tour will be adjusted to suit the
participants together with your guide.
Can I be apart of caring for the dogs?
Of course! We feed and take care of the dogs, our travel
companions, together.
How do I book a
tour?
Send us an e-mail informing us which tour you would like to go on,
what date and how many people.
We will then offer you a suitable tour, which you will need to
confirm. Don’t forget, to tell us if you need help to find
accommodation in Kiruna before the tour.
We always confirm your booking by e-mail.
Can I have a longer trip than your standard tours?
We will do our best to make a tour as you like it! Just tell us
about your wish, and we will offer you a tour and give you a
quotation.
Don't hesitate to
contact us if you have any further questions!
